Adrian KUTTEL
Adrian Kuttel, supporter de la première heure de la Cap-Martinique, a couru la première édition en double avec Gerry Heggie. Sud Africains, et excellents marins, ils ont été surpris par le niveau sportif de leurs concurrents et comme le racontait avec humour Adrian à l’arrivée : “ils sont fous ces français ! ils ne lâchent rien; et il suffit de dormir quelques minutes pour que l’un d’entre eux passe devant”.
C’est en solo qu’Adrian tentera cette fois l’aventure pour sa douzième transat. Avec son bateau rutilant, il s’entraîne et régate sans relâche, profitant de l’inversion des saisons entre les hémisphères nord et sud pour courir. En janvier 2023 Adrian s’est offert le luxe de gagner toutes classes confondues la célèbre transatlantique Le Cap - Rio, bien qu’étant le seul concurrent solo ! Chapeau bas !
Adrian, issu d’une lignée de régatiers, a navigué sur toutes les mers et sur toutes sortes de bateaux; même sa carrière professionnelle dans les opérations maritimes ne doit rien au hasard : tout ce qui touche à la mer le passionne !
La Cap-Martinique est son objectif 2024 avec un mot d’ordre : prendre du plaisir !
Adrian Kuttel, a first hour supporter of Cap-Martinique, sailed on the first edition together with Gerry Heggie. Both South-Africans and excellent sailor, they they were surprised by the sporting level of their competitors and as Adrian humorously said at the finish: “these French are crazy! they never give up; and you only need to sleep a few minutes for one of them to pass”.
It is single-handed that Adrian will attempt the adventure this time for his twelfth transatlantic race. With his gleaming boat, he trains and regattas tirelessly, taking advantage of the inversion of the seasons between the northern and southern hemispheres to race. In January 2023 Adrian offered himself the luxury of winning all classes combined the famous transatlantic Cape Town - Rio, despite being the only solo competitor! Congrats !
Adrian, from a line of sailors, has sailed on all seas and on all kinds of boats; even his professional career in maritime operations owes nothing to chance: everything related to the sea fascinates him!
Cap-Martinique is its 2024 objective with one watchword: have fun!
Adrian Kuttel soutient Sentinel Ocean Alliance !
Adrian Kuttel a choisir de soutenir Sentinel Ocean Alliance (SOA) pour la Cap-Martinique. La SOA a été créée par le surfeur professionnel Frank Solomon. Adrian et Frank ont grandi dans le même voisinage au Cap, en Afrique du Sud.
La SOA est très active dans leur communauté agricole à Hout Bay, sur la péninsule du Cap. Depuis quelques temps, la mauvaise gestion des ressources de l’océan on conduit beaucoup de ses membres à la pêche illégale et au braconnage. En échange de leur prises illégales, ils sont souvent payés avec de la drogue qui est ensuite vendue à la communauté, avec des conséquences dévastatrices.
Frank a alors voulu créer des opportunité liées à l'océan pour les jeune défavorisés de Hout Bay en établissant de nombreux projet qui ont porté leur fruits!
Waves for Change (W4C) - W4C fournit un service de santé mentale adapté aux jeunes à risque vivant dans des communautés instables. Grâce à l'accès à des mentors attentionnés et à des séances hebdomadaires de surf thérapie, W4C donne aux enfants les compétences nécessaires pour faire face au stress, réguler leur comportement, établir des relations de guérison et faire des choix de vie positifs.
Hout Bay Surf Lifesaving Club - Formation et soutien continu en enseignant aux enfants défavorisés les techniques de sauvetage dans un environnement favorable.
Parley Beach Cleanup - Le Parley Global Cleanup Network mène une action directe contre la pollution marine par les plastiques, en retirant les déchets plastiques des plages, des îles isolées, des rivières, des mangroves et de la haute mer, et en interceptant les plastiques rejetés dans l'océan dans les communautés côtières.
Création d'une école de l'océan - L'école de l'océan vise à éduquer les jeunes par le biais de programmes sur l'environnement marin et côtier, à enseigner le recyclage et à sensibiliser à l'impact de la pollution sur notre environnement.
Programme d'alimentation communautaire - En raison de la pandémie de Covid-19, bon nombre des programmes ci-dessus ont dû être temporairement fermés. La SOA a mis en place un programme d'alimentation communautaire qui fournit et distribue des colis alimentaires aux personnes les plus vulnérables de la communauté.
Ainsi Adrian a fièrement choisi de soutenir la SOA et ses initiatives pour la cap Martinique !
Adrian Kuttel is partnering with the non-profit organization Sentinel Ocean Alliance (SOA) for the Cap-Martinique race. SOA was founded by professional surfer Frank Solomon. Frank and Adrian grew up in the same neighbourhood in Cape Town, South Africa.
SOA is a very active organization in their local harbour community in Hout Bay, situated in the Cape Peninsula. In recent times the mismanagement of the ocean resources has forced many of its members into a life of illegal fishing or poaching. In return for their illegal catch they are often paid in drugs which are then sold into the community with devastating consequences.
Frank's vision is to create ocean based opportunities for the underprivileged youth of Hout Bay by establishing many successful projects.
Waves for Change (W4C) - W4C provides a child-friendly mental health service to at-risk youth living in unstable communities. Through access to caring mentors, and weekly Surf Therapy sessions, W4C gives children skills to cope with stress, regulate behaviour, build healing relationships, and make positive life choices.
Hout Bay Surf Lifesaving Club - Providing formation and ongoing support by teaching the underprivileged kids life saving skills in a supportive environment.
Parley Beach Cleanup - The Parley Global Cleanup Network is taking direct action against marine plastic pollution, removing plastic waste from beaches, remote islands, rivers, mangroves and high seas, and intercept ocean-bound plastics in coastal communities.
Establishment of an Ocean School - The Ocean School aims at educating the youth through programmes about the marine and coastal environment, teaching about recycling, and creating awareness around the impact that pollution has on our environment.
Community Feeding Program - Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many of the above programmes were forced to a temporary closure. SOA established a Community Feeding Program that sources and distributes food parcels to the most vulnerable in the community.
Adrian has proudly chosen SOA and its initiatives as his association of societal support for the Cap-Martinique race!
